Why Are Men Obsessed With Breasts?

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Breasts are just a mass of glandular, fatty, and fibrous tissues positioned over the pectoral muscles of the chest wall. The primary purpose is to nourish the younger ones but is there any connection between and pleasure? What makes the breasts so special for the men? Get to know the whole evolutionary and socio cultural viewpoint about this obsession.
Why men are obsessed with Breasts- The Uncharted Minds

Something, out of all things that men love, are breasts.

Men love everything about it. Be it staring at them or touching them.

‘My eyes are up here’ has become a worldwide statement to those creepy men who are caught staring at breasts.

So, what is the reason behind their obsession with boobs?

Breasts are an important part of a woman’s anatomy. It was initially thought to be for the nourishment of child but now scientists have confirmed that it also plays a huge role in the sex life of our species.

The attraction towards them is natural as breasts remind them of the bond between mother and child.

The book ‘The Chemistry Between Us: Love, Sex and The Science of Attraction’ by Larry Young and Brian Alexander says ‘Breastfeeding releases Oxytocin’.

Men are attracted to breasts on a biological level because a good full cleavage indicates to a man that a woman is in good health and an excellent choice to bear and raise his children.’

The main point being,“Big breasts means a large amount of fat is stored in the mammary glands which indicates that the woman is healthy and can be a promising mate.”

Larger breasts are indicators of a good diet and good genetic health so evolutionary urges of men kick in to suggest that this can be the one to carry on his genes.

This is a contradictory theory as many scientists believe that breasts became an important part of women as the mating style of our species is mostly from the front end or as commonly known as the missionary style.

On the other hand, our primitive counterparts, i.e. monkeys, display a rear-end advertising to attract males as they copulate from behind. So, buttocks play a huge role in choosing the females as to whose rump is healthier to inseminate.

The theory extends to humans as to why breasts became larger to mimic the contours of woman’s rear because humans copulate facing their mates.

‘But breasts are for babies.’

This theory was long rejected as many scientists after years of brain research and millions of stimulation later concluded that breasts actually play a huge rule in the sex life of women.

Studies have found that nipple stimulation enhances sexual arousal in the great majority of women and it activates same brain areas as vaginal and clitoral stimulation.

So, when the nipples are touched or massaged then the same hormone Oxytocin is being released, just like what happens when a baby nourishes.

Oxytocin is called the ‘Love Hormone’ by the way which increases the bond between the baby and mother while breastfeeding.

Now it has been proved that the same goes to the potential mate too.

In other words, men can make themselves more desirable by stimulating a woman’s breasts during foreplay and sex.

Evolution, in sense, has made men want to do this.

To make you all more clear about this interesting theory; Men don’t literally find boobs interesting but the ones who find it more attractive are the ones who get to produce more children because stimulating a woman’s breasts during sex makes them more desirable and more likely to have the woman stay with them to produce his children.

Evolution literally decides as to how the ones who got the right behaviors will survive and the ones who are not will perish.

According to a study done on 191 cultures in 1951 by the anthropologist Clellan Ford and ethologist Frank Beach, the men who love breasts should not be generalised with the whole gender.

They reported that breasts were considered sexually important to men in 13 of those cultures. Of those, nine cultures preferred large breasts. Two — the Azande and Ganda of Africa — found long, pendulous breasts most attractive. Another two — the Maasai of Africa and Manus of the South Pacific — liked breasts that were upright and “hemispherical,” but not necessarily large. Thirteen cultures also reported breast simulation during sex, but only three of those overlapped with the societies where men reported finding breasts important for sexual attraction.

Lastly, men adore boobs because that is one of the parts that women cover. So, covering anything creates a sense of ‘not knowing’ and ‘not getting to see’ that particular thing. Makes the men more anxious to know what’s inside.

Breasts, boobs, bosoms and what not; is an important part of a woman’s body and no matter what women wear, there will always be some men who would be staring you right through your dress.

In literature we have a sweet term for them; Creeps.
