Most adults deserve an Oscar Award for acting as if adulthood is easy. As a young adult, I must admit that adulting sometimes gets tough. Very tough.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be an adult because I wanted the freedom to decide when to go to bed. Now that I am an adult, I decide when to sleep. However, this comes at an expense. As an adult, there are bills to pay. More responsibilities come your way.
Why Adulthood is hard?
The adulting stage will come with a lot of culture shocks. You have to adapt to the new energy and focus. Being an adult does not necessarily mean that you are mature. Maturity is the courage and bravery to face situations with boldness. Moreover, making the right decisions at this point is crucial.
Here are some of the reasons why adulthood is hard:
You Will Have Less Leisure Time!
Due to increased duties and responsibilities, you will have less time to enjoy yourself. You have to ensure that you are good at time management for you to accomplish set targets. Poor time management will cost your job and the opportunities available for you.
You Lose A Lot Of Friends!
Best Friend Forever, huh? Well, you should know that you will lose contact with most of your friends. Interests also change. It gets harder to make good friends that you can lean on in times of need. Remember, most adults deserve an Oscar for acting like everything is all smooth and super-easy.
You Need To Trust The Process!
Patience. Patience is a virtue that all young adults need to adopt. Without patience, you are likely to rush things resulting in unlearnt lessons about life. As they say, hurry, hurry has no blessing! You are likely to work harder and longer to achieve your goals. Slow down and be a good student, will you?
Responsibilities!
It is up to you to ensure financial stability, healthy relationships, a happy family, and a built career profile. As an adult, you need to maintain a sane state of mind. We sometimes fail and get criticized. Endless “grow up” comments will pull you down.
Remember, it is a learning experience.
Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
Health is the greatest asset you can invest in as an adult. The world will not slow down because you are ill. You need to ensure you exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and get enough sleep. Have a daily routine that pushes you to achieve your goals.
However, don’t be a boring friend, sibling, or guardian! Set aside some time to relax and enjoy life.
Regardless of the tough times, you should be happy.
