Among the most Biggest common emotions in the whole of humanity is the emotion of Sex.
Even so, it remains a narrow topic among peers. It affects a big part of our life yet less spoken of in public.
As a peer talker, my duty has been to provide a comfortable environment for peers in different age groups to be able to open up about their deepest thoughts and feelings.
One of the strongest topics in our talks is about Pornography.
According to the dictionary, this word means any media that has compulsive effects on the audience interested in a particular subject.
In this article, we will talk about the sexual context.
For a huge number of people, especially the youth stumbling upon porn in the process of self-discovery is almost a natural passage of growth.
However, this has harmed an unimaginable size of the population. Its addictive effects have had adverse effects in many aspects of life. Relationships, socio-emotional, financial among many other problems have arisen from engagement with porn. This is not however to state the absence of any pros.
From my observational point of view majority of the silent sufferings (silent because the society has its moral and religious fingers ready to judge you when the word Porn comes out) are as a result of the after-effects of porn and not the media itself.
The manner at which we get to perceive our sexual abilities and other aspects of our sexuality from Porn is detrimental.
The sufferings that come from compulsive masturbation mostly remain unspoken for the fear of the effects of Opening up to the wrong ears.
This silence rapidly affects our self-esteem for example it has been stated frequently that porn influenced masturbation has led to premature ejaculation in boys and men. Concerning women and girls; they have conditioned their bodies to rely on only one type of stimulation for orgasm, so both of these problems lead to instability in relationships or even worse; Depression.
Amidst this COVID-19 pandemic, we are bored in this quarantine period. Because we are left with enough internet data for a quick online porn search.
We watch those to get aroused and since the sexual energy drives physically, we express it via masturbation. As it is the cheapest and readily available option. So we do what our instinct says and after that, we feel embarrassed (for most people).
This now affects us presumably to the point that it upsets our romantic relationships after several unhealthy repetitions. Then we get depressed and bored again and the cycle once more repeats itself. Unconsciously, we are sinking into an addiction.
It is hard but not impossible to escape.
Many youths seeking to free themselves from the shackles of bad sexual habits which they had encountered at an early age, often fail due to less availability of understanding people.
If humanity has to counter the negative effects of porn, then it should figure out a way to make sure that a system of healthy and sensible sexual education reaches the youth long before porn does.
What about the drowning group, gasping for a breath of normal sexual life and mental state?
What should they do to break out of the mental prison; Basically to quit Porn?
Dr Jordan Peterson a well known Canadian clinical psychologist and a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto once advised in his YouTube video that if we at all want to quit watching porn, we should not think of it as quitting.
We should instead think of it as resolving for a better life, a better personality and a better mental state. That we should write down the negative effects that it brings to our lives and by that, subconsciously make efforts to reduce and finally completely avoid contact with all these explicit media.
Mindset is the key to doing all these. Not to forget self-discipline.
It might be hard to give up but it’s not impossible.

This needs to be discussed as much as possible!
Masturbation leads to many health as well as mental issues. Our immunity decreases, energy levels drops, liver damage takes place and many more. And it’s addictive!
