Makeup Essentials For Beginners

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Makeup doesn’t need a trend. It’s never off the table. The whole of mankind loves makeup. I said the whole of mankind because not just the girls but even the guys are into it. To be honest, makeup is not just about hiding a scar or a mark. It’s about accentuating your features.
Makeup for beginners

Makeup doesn’t need a trend. It’s never off the table. The whole of mankind loves makeup. I said the whole of mankind because not just the girls but even the guys are into it. To be honest, makeup is not just about hiding a scar or a mark. It’s about accentuating your features.

Personally I just love makeup. I am totally into it. But I fall in the minimalistic category and my rulebook says “less is more”. As of now, I use a limited amount of products but a variety in them. I don’t go for too many heavy looks because at the end of the day my skin feels very suffocating. I always go for the fresh breezy looks.

Being said that, there are many teenagers who must be wondering about makeup and the right tools to do it. So for all of them, I decided to share what I used and what are the tools I went with when I was a beginner. I am excited. Hang tight.

I am basically going to talk about all the stuff you will need to do a fresh simple look which you can wear to school or college.

Beauty Blender / Makeup Brushes

Fingers are the best tools to blend your makeup. But if you wanna go a step ahead then you can get a beauty blender(the egg-shaped soft sponge thingy). Also, you can get a set of three to four very basic brushes. You might pick a foundation/powder brush, an angled brush(for eyeshadows) and a puffy brush(for the blush).

Moisturiser

Before you go ahead with all the fancy stuff, you must prep your skin. Getting the base right is the key to a great look. So, before you build layers, moisturise your skin. This will help you make your further layers blend in and not look cakey.

Concealer

This is a very optional step. I didn’t do it and still, I don’t. Concealer is basically used to hide the marks and highlight certain sections of the face, basically the T zone. You start with a small amount, apply it under your eyes, forehead, the nose area, chin and on any spots, you wanna hide. Start with a small amount and then later if you need more you can build it up.

P.S. Use the beauty blender to blend it into your skin properly.

Pressed Foundation / Compact

Now if you want to go in with a more fancy version and you are not scared of messing up then you can try foundations. Make sure to pick the right shade. If you are not ready to take that jump now, then chill. We have got better things to replace them. You can go for a pressed foundation. It’s very easy to apply, you can use the beauty blender or the foundation brush.

P.S. If you are using the brush, then blend in a circular motion and downwards strokes. If you are using the beauty blender then just dab, dab and dab.

Eyeshadow

Do not freak out yet. You don’t need to use seven colours and put them in different parts of your eyelid. For the minimalist look, you just need one shade, just to tint and bring little dimension. The easiest way to do it is with an eyeshadow pencil. Just apply the pencil and blend it with your fingers. To give it a little bit more finishing, you can go ahead with a brush.

Eyeliner

Since we are going for an easy-breezy look, you won’t need to go through the pain of making a winged eyeliner. Rather we will be using it in our eyes’ water lines. Just grab a pencil eyeliner or kajal(better if it’s smudge-free), very carefully apply that to your upper and lower water lines. This will make your lashes look thicker and fuller. You would need a little practice with the upper waterline.

Highlighting

We have made it to my favourite step now. It’s a highlighter time. No rules and limitation for this now. Grab your favourite shade of highlighter and apply it to your high points of the face(nose, cheekbones and cupid bows). If you are wearing something off-shoulder then don’t forget your collarbones and high points of shoulders. You can use the puffy and the angles brush both, depending upon your application.

Blush

Unlike the highlighter, you can’t get all overwhelmed here. Blush can make you look like a princess and a clown. So, pick a shade and start slow. Apply in a small amount and build it. Just apply it on your cheekbones. You can use the puffy brush to do that. Smile and apply.

Lip Tint

Finally to complete the look apply a nude lip tint or a lipstick. You can also go for a tinted lip balm. For me personally lip tint and tinted lip balms work best.

That’s it for an easy-breezy minimalistic look. It looks like a lot but I am sure you will enjoy doing this look.
