A Story of Mother Nature

We are living on this planet as if we had another one to go.

Once upon a time, I saw a maiden beautiful,
So pure, so clear, so bright and bountiful.
Mesmerizing mountains as her crown precious,
An elegant robe of forests green luscious,
With blossoms delicate of hues various.
Lucid waves of streams flow as her locks gracious.
Oceans azure with stunning lifeforms allure.
Her fresh breath of breeze is like a magical cure.
A Mother she is to all the living
We feel our lives, thanks to her blessings.
She kisses all her children with a loving caress,
Even though some want to make her a mess.

Then some demons like me ravage her womb,
With axes and poisons and vicious bombs.
She forgives all who torture, with her magnificence,
Cause she still is a Mother with munificence.
They tear her robe, her crown they shove,
Fight wars, kill all, not fearing the heavens above.
They then turn the oceans blue into black,
Burn all, pollute the air like a maniac.
Their every step and march is insidious.
They bring chaos and subdue her voice so mellifluous.
Dig her for treasures to be superfluous,
Not hesitating to make her face hideous.
They build many concrete buildings tall,
Seize the shelter of creatures, one and all.
Oh, what do we even make of her?
What is this so-called “development” for?
Blurring her beauty with our dirt, trash and waste,
Gagging and suffocating with all haste.

But she’s a force we dared to rage,
The pain of the wounds she has to assuage.
So rises she with all her power and wrath.
Know that this is our actions’ aftermath.
Now when we perish and try to lick our wounds,
See how we tattered the world, how we were such hounds.
She heals herself now while keeping us at peace,
I see her returning and rising to her former bliss.
Nevertheless, she’s still a generous provider.
Let us pledge to maintain Mother Nature’s order.
Let us check our careless ways to be in harmony,
And listen to her voice, dance to her symphony.
There’s no harm in being Eco-friendly,
This nature is ours. Treat her respectfully.
We have to rectify our ways as her children
This devastation, you know, was just a siren.
